Mary-George Fox Bird Lady

Mary and I dodged a massive downpour the other day out at Champoeg State Park.  It was a close one but well worth it to hear about Mary’s absolute love for birds and all things outdoors.  I learned a few things about some birds and was thrilled to hear about her exciting plans for after graduation (including an adventure across the country).  In addition to witnessing Mary’s awesome intellect, I really enjoyed her dreamy brown eyes and poise as we soaked our shoes in the grass.  Thanks Mary!  You’re a delight and I’m glad we got to spend a bit of time together before you head off to save the world.

Emily-George Fox ginger

Emily, Emily, Emily.  She’s used her joy and passion for people to spread her ginger-tinted light throughout campus.  She’s got a killer smile, a contagious laugh, a beautiful voice, and a way with people that is lovely to watch.  It’s been a joy for me to spend time with her in my house, in the wilderness (despite approximately 1000 mosquito bites), and almost every day before or after lunch on my way past her office.  Emiry . . . go out girl.  You’ve got great things in store for you!

Hannah-George Fox Genius

Hannah makes me laugh and listen and grow.  Jonathan and I have had the greatest privilege of sharing the past 2 years of life with her.  She’s brought out the best in Jonathan as his Assistant Area Coordinator and has proven to be a loyal and true friend to me . . . well, both of us.  Hannah has depth and wisdom that continues to impress me and affect me relationally, academically, and spiritually.  It’s been an honor to watch her grow and change during this season of life.  The thing that I enjoy the most about Hannah however, is the humor and laughter that she brings to our lives.  The 3 of us have spent many evenings sitting and snacking on our kitchen counter rolling our eyes, exaggerating life, and simply enjoying each others company.  We’ve cried together, celebrated life together and I couldn’t be prouder of this woman as she takes her light out into the world.

Ed & Liz are getting married!

In case you can’t tell from his precious face, Ed is Jonathan’s younger brother.  But over the past 3 years, he’s become more than a brother to us both.  He’s a friend and a companion for us as we all walk through life together.  And now we get to walk beside him as he and Liz get married this summer!  We couldn’t be luckier to have these two as friends and SO appreciate how they choose to live their lives.  The intention, tenderness, and quality time they share with one another is heart warming and encouraging.  The four of use spent a well deserved day off at the beach where we scored an unusual sunny day for the Oregon coast.  We showed Liz the Tillamook cheese factory and topped the day off with a hilarious and sweet sunset bike ride.  The red bike was a Christmas gift to Liz this year from Ed.  He spent months restoring it and she’s SOOOOO proud of it!  In case you need a reminder of how awesome our family is….you can see pumpkins heads, a baby bump dancing, rock n roll, angelic singing, true love, and Ed & Liz during Liz’s first visit to Oregon.  In the meantime…here are some smootchies.

Alaskan graduates from college

I realize that I write quite often about how wonderful it is share life with college students.  And how cool it is to document them living life.  Let me emphasize that again.  It’s students like Tyler (although there isn’t ANYONE like him) that inspire me, make me laugh, and help me process my own life.  Tyler happens to be on my “Top 10 Funniest People On The Planet” list.  It’s a pretty solid group.  He’s also tender, energetic, creative, super smart, spontaneous, a loyal friend, and funny.  Did I mention funny?  He’s funny.  As the school year draws to a close, there’s a bittersweet feeling of pride and loss as Jonathan and I watch the seniors graduate.  But it’s OK because we got them during some precious years of growth.  Tyler, we’re SO excited to see where life takes you and have LOVED spending time with you in all kinds of settings.  Oh-dee-aye.
